Excerpts

He had never met anyone like her. Strong, independent, smart, she rode a horse as well as any man. If she lacked some of the shallow city graces of the girls he had known in St. Louis, well, she surely made up for with her rich laughter. Any man would want a woman like that beside him.

“Listen, Angie. I … I, ah …”

What’s wrong with me? Durrell cursed himself silently. Why are my hands shaking?

“My … my, uh …” His mouth could not seem to form the words.

Angie Cass glanced up. Barely sixteen, she had the knowing eyes of a woman.
